When Facing North invites grounding and orientation within the body. North, the direction of Earth, represents steadiness and the place we turn to before movement. At the center, a circular form resembling a compass or north star offers a point of alignment, built from ash, a tree long associated with strength and the connection between realms. Wrapped selenite held within lacewood forms protective doubled orbs that soften agitation and create space for stillness. Below, abstract broom forms sweep downward, suggesting the gathering of what has been scattered and the act of returning to ground. Shield-like forms flank the installation with heavy cords that speak to the patience required to unravel and loosen what binds us. Together these materials and forms create a system of wayfinding that centers the body, offers protection, and invites a quiet return to oneself before moving outward.
